shelves, tables, meek and edible: we are, dice Signora Plath

Overnight, very
Whitely, discreetly,
Very quietly

Our toes, our noses
Take hold on the loam,
Acquire the air.

Nobody sees us,
Stops us. betrays us;
The small grains make room.

Soft fists insist on
Heaving the needles,
The leafy bedding,

Even the paving.
Our hammers, our rams,
Earless and eyeless

Perfectly voiceless,
Widen the crannies,
Shoulders through holes. We

Diet on water,
On crumbs of shadow,
Bland-mannered, asking

Little or nothing.
So many of us!
So many of us!

We are shelves, we are
Tables, we are meek,
We are edible,

Nudgers and shovers
In spite of ourselves.
Our kind multiplies:

We shall by morning
Inherit the Earth.
Our foot's in the door.

Mushrooms, de Sylvia Plath

Ms.Plath has a call

1.
4.
Un pedazo, "Daddy":
Bit my pretty red heart in two.
I was ten when they buried you.
At twenty I tried to die
And get back, back, back to you.
I thought even the bones would do.

But they pulled me out of the sack,
And they stuck me together with glue.
And then I knew what to do.
I made a model of you,
A man in black with a Meinkampf look.

5.
Otro pedazo, de Lady Lazarus:
The second time I meant
To last it out and not come back at all.
I rocked shut
As a seashell.
They had to call and call
And pick the worms off me like sticky pearls.

Dying
Is an art, like everything else.
I do it exceptionally well.
I do it so it feels like hell.
I do it so it feels real.
I guess you could say I've a call.

6.
7.
Toallas mojadas en la puerta. Los niños durmiendo, bien alimentados. El vecino, gracias, no está en casa. Nota en su mesa: Llamar al doctor. Las niñeras llegarán más tarde. ¿Está encendido? Sí, el Gas está encendido. El horno abierto. Su bello rostro, al fondo. El calendario marca el 1963 (mi madre, 3 años; mi padre, diez. Veintitres aún, pa' mí).
8.
De "Edge", 1962:
The woman is perfected. Her dead
Body wears the smile of accomplishment[...]
